Agilitoy Team - Peter Spoorenberg
As an agility trainer, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to work with you dog to learn to play. It's important to build a good relationship with your dog, and besides being a lot of fun, it is also good for your dog's motivation during exercise. In agility sport I cannot do without the right dog toy. I use it with it learning the equipment and of course during all other training sessions. For young dogs and small breeds, I often use a slightly longer tugtoy because you can can drag along on the ground so that your dog does not always look upwards when he is rewarded, your dog can chase after that. I use the smaller tugtoys to not always reward out of hand. You can throw a smaller tugtoy a bit easier. I consciously do not choose a ball because it will roll and bounce, which in turn can be dangerous result, a tugtoy immediately falls 'dead' so the dog doesn´t run after it.
